Name: Babe Breed: pit bull (female) Age: 1 year Owner: Matt

Klecko was rehomed by Marianne and Mike when the dog's owner had to leave New York and return to Spain. Matt (Marianne and Mike's son, a firefighter) rescued Babe from the street. He found her tied up near his firehouse, Ladder Company 217 in Bedford Stuyvesant. A few years ago, Matt was featured on Animal Planet's Animal Precinct -- he rescued a dog that was locked in a car. Matt also saved a stray from Gerritsen Avenue traffic.  Marianne and Mike fostered  the dog until Mary and Joe adopted her. (See blog story.)
